Commissions

Greetings! Thank you for choosing me to create a custom piece that perfectly fits your specifications. I pride myself on my attention to detail and creativity, and I am more than happy to cater to any unique requests or designs you may have in mind. Please note that commissions typically require 8-12 weeks for completion, depending on the size and complexity of the piece as well as my current workload. Rush orders can be accommodated for an additional fee, and I would like to clarify that the completion date does not include shipping costs and delivery times.

To ensure that you receive your custom piece in a timely manner, it is best to reserve your place in my queue as soon as possible. I am always happy to provide an accurate completion date and answer any questions you may have about the process. Thank you once again for considering my services. I look forward to bringing your unique vision to life with my artistic talents.

  1. Process: During the creation process, I may send you a progress photo for you to give feedback on the overall direction of the piece, especially towards the end. When I feel the painting is finished, I will email you a photo for you to sign off on. Once we both agree that the piece is finished, it will need 3-5 days to be varnished and cured, and ready to hang. For local purchasers (Singapore only), your painting may be hand-delivered. All others will be carefully wrapped and packaged and delivered via parcel service. If, in the unlikely event, we cannot agree on the finality of the artwork, you are free to cancel the project, under the terms below. However, I make every effort to ensure you are pleased with the result

  2. Communication: If you'd like to communicate your colour choices and ideas, you can send me paint or fabric swatches, and I'll add them to my design board. If you like a certain style of one of my previous works, please let me know, and I'll consider that direction. I'll try to respond to any emails you send promptly (usually within 24 hours).

  3. Deposit: I require a 50% deposit before beginning your painting to secure your spot on my commission calendar. The balance is due upon completion and before shipping or delivering your piece. Payment can be made via PayPal using my email dvd.rodriguez4@gmail.com. If you haven’t got an account with PayPal, you can sign up for free using this link: https://www.paypal.com/sg/webapps/mpp/get-started-with-paypal. Sign up it's free.

  4. Cancellation: I work hard to ensure that the artwork is a mixture of your wants and desires, along with my artistic painting style. If, however, you are not pleased with the final product, you are not obligated to purchase the piece. You will be refunded your 50% deposit, minus 25% of the TOTAL purchase price, for materials and commission fees.

  5. Shipping: Shipping is FREE within Singapore. Pieces up to 36x48 will require shipping to be paid by the buyer, as it will entail crating and shipping services. Alternatively, you can decide to have your piece removed from stretchers and shipped in a tube. Paintings shipped outside Singapore are generally taken off the stretcher bars and rolled in a tube for shipment. You will need to have it restretched on your end.

Let's Get Started. If you have any other questions or would like a quote, please email me. If you have photos of the room where the painting will "live," that would be wonderful for me to get a feel for the space and your decor. That’s pretty much the fine detail; now let’s get painting.

Hi, my name is Ginger.

A few years ago, Ginger passed away, leaving her family with a great sense of loss. She had brought love, loyalty, fur, and countless reasons to smile into their lives. This portrait of her is a tribute to the moments they spent together and the affection they shared.

Porsche 911 Commission

Porsche 911 Carrera.

The challenge for this painting was the white car with the trees and bushes in the background. The photo reference was taken on a very sunny day, so there aren't many shadows on the car. So the real detail is on the windows and the wheels, also in the lights of the car, and just subtle shadows in the panels of the car. All this is important because that is what gives it a 3D effect. The first thing I did was to put the darkest color first, a dark grey almost black. Then mid-tones of dark and lighter greens. Single strokes of green to assimilate the texture of foliage and branches. This took the longest time but once I got the technique down I could cover areas quickly. The final stage was adding highlights to the leaves and black shadows. Then I added a darker grey at the bottom and blended that to the road to give it a bit of depth.

Portrait of my little boy when he was 2 and a half years old. He is being chased by  Billy in front of the Art Gallery in Melbourne. This painting was commissioned by my most important client, my wife. This video shows you how I do my stuff, everyone has a unique way of doing things and we always arrive at the same point. With an awesome painting.
